President-- It is the president's job to chair all the meetings of the LYO including the Synod Youth Assembly. He/She should prepare the agenda for the meetings and make sure it is properly carried out. The president will attend the Council of Synod LYO President's (CSLYOP's) meeting, attend the National LYO Convention, and assure that the annual report is done.
Vice-President-- The Vice-President will assume all of the duties listed above if the president is unable to fulfill them. In addition to that, he/she will assist the President, serve as the parliamentarian, attend the National LYO Convention, and serve as the photographer for the Synod Youth Assembly.
Secretary-- The secretary will keep minutes of all the meetings and distribute them within two weeks of the meeting date. In addition, he/she will also be a resource for any minutes from past meetings, and will be responsible for all correspondence of the LYO.
Officer-At-Large-- The Officer-At-Large will serve as registrar for assigned events. Also, he/she will serve as the board photographer, except at Synod Youth Assembly, and he/she will serve as the youth representative to the Synod Assembly.
Conference Representative-- The Conference Representative will communicate LYO events to the conference churches and the conference dean, and is also encouraged to go to the conference meetings. He/She is to participate in the LYO meetings and events, and serve on at least one event committee and attend the event.
Youth Multicultural Advisory Representative-- He/She is to participate in LYO meetings and events and be on at least one event committee and attend that event.
Jr. High Representative-- He/She participates in LYO board meetings and needs to be on at least one event committee and attend that event. Also he/she will make sure that the events planned by the LYO are sensitive to Jr. High youth issues.
Adult Advisor-- The Adult Advisor will work with the president to prepare the agenda for the LYO board meetings and events and work with the Synod Youth Coordinator and Conference Representatives to plan and advise meetings and events.
LYO Board meetings are held six (6) times a year, typically on the last Saturday of odd numbered months, and sometimes conflict with other activities such as sports, band, or jobs. In addition, though meetings are typically held from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at a central location in the synod (currently St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dixon), it can still be close to a two-hour drive for those coming from the various corners of the synod. In addition, an overnight board retreat will be planned for August. (Note to consider: Would you be able to find transportation and are you and your parents willing to make the LYO Board a priority in your personal schedule?)
