Concordia University Chicago Announces Church Management Certificate Program. Concordia University Chicago, a Lutheran University located in River Forest Illinois, is launching a new Not For Profit/ Church Management Certificate Program targeted at Church Management and Staff.  The program is designed to increase the proficiency of church administrators and professionals, leading to more efficient management in finance, communications and human resources to enable them to better accomplish their mission and ministry.   The program, beginning in January,  consists of five graduate level courses including an Introduction to Not-For Profit Organizations, Financial Management of Not-for-Profit Organizations, Board Governance and Management of Volunteers, Fund Development and Management, and Communications and Public Relations in a Not-for-Profit Organization.   All classes are transcriptable graduate level courses that can count towards a master’s degree.    Classes generally meet on Saturdays.   Students may enroll in specific classes to meet their needs, but must complete all five classes to earn a Certificate.    Professional Lutheran Church staff are eligible for a 50% tuition discount.  For more information, contact Concordia at 708-209-3108 or E-Mail cob@CUChicago.edu .

From Luther Seminary:

From Luther Productions "Faith Out Loud" video series We are told that we should be willing to witness to our faith, but most of us can't name the date we accepted Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior. "Faith Out Loud" offers hope for tongue-tied Christians to identify the fact that we have a faith story and we have words for our experience of God. Authentic conversations in the "Faith Out Loud" video series answer questions like "What Bible verse means the most to you?" and "How did you come to faith?" Order now

Preachers need opportunities to hone their skills and hear other good preachers. In the Company of Preachers, a new audio resource developed by the Center for Biblical Preaching at Luther Seminary, meets both of these needs. The first issue, released July 1 and titled Opening the Sermon, features comments from Luther Seminary preaching professors David Lose and Carol Miles along with four sermons from daily chapel, carefully chosen to reflect the theme. The quarterly resource, available as a download or a CD, can be purchased as an annual subscription or as a single issue. Visit the online store for more details!
