with
keynote presenter Peter Marty,
Fragmentation in the church and between
denominations has become a way of life. Congregational strife is not
reserved for a few select congregations. In fact, when many people
think of Christianity, the first thing they think of is, “people who
can’t get along.” So what about the word UNITY? Jesus puts a premium
on it. But how do you embrace diversity and unity at the same time
without making a lot of people unhappy, or shriveling into a nice
and small group with good intentions? Are there particular ways to
glory in our differences? A church that is alive and on fire wants
nothing to do with a bunker mentality. A true community in Christ
will never hunker down, believing or acting as if it possesses the
truth.
Workshops will be presented by Peter Marty, Bishop Wollersheim, ELCA Churchwide staff, assistants to the Bishop, Synod agencies & institutions, as well as Synod committees, pastors, and other leaders.
