Theme verses:

Genesis15:1 Afterward the Lord spoke to Abram in a vision and said to him, “Do not be afraid, Abram, for I will protect you, and your reward will great.”

Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation, so why should I be afraid The Lord protects me from danger, so why should I tremble?

Meditation:

God holding the earthWhen God spoke to Abram He said “Do not be afraid”. Why did Abram need to be warned not to be afraid? Why do any of us have to be told not to be afraid to listen to God in our every day lives? What are we afraid of?

In Psalm 27, David knows that he has nothing to fear because he knows in his heart that God protects him. David knows the evil in this world cannot separate him from God’s love.

In Luke 13:31, Jesus is warned to leave because Herod wanted to kill Him, but Jesus was not afraid, He knew that was not God’s plan for Him.

In Paul’s letter to the Philippians, he tells them to pattern their lives after his. Paul had no fear of dying or being imprisoned because he knew God and he wanted them to also know God.

Let us all be fearless and listen to what God is telling us in our everyday lives.

We should not let all the distractions of this modern world keep us from knowing God’s love.

When we live our lives in God’s, we will be known as followers of Christ and we will have nothing to fear

Prayer:

Dear Lord, you are my light and my salvation. Help me to not be afraid. Let me not tremble, for you protect me from danger. Open my ears so I can hear what you say to me each day. Amen.
