Meditation:
It strikes me that we are given a gift in these words, in the stories of our brothers and sisters in ages past. We can learn from what they said and did, and in God’s response.
Likewise, we continue to be living examples of the continuing story of God’s people. Our stories may not be written down to be read by future brothers and sisters in Christ thousands of years from now, but our stories parallel theirs, even as they continue the story of God’s faithfulness.
Re-read this words and cling to them: “No testing has overtaken you that is not common to everyone. God is faithful.”
Each of us has trials and problems. For some the burdens are greatly visible and for others they are more hidden. The trials ebb and flow though at times they may seem to pile into something so great that they seem insurmountable.
But hear the words again: “God is faithful.” We know that, as in ages past, God will walk with us through these times, just as he will walk with the generations yet to come. We cling to his faithfulness, knowing that we are a part of the story of His people – past, present and future. Thanks be to God. |
