Lenten Devotion for Tuesday, March 9

Today's lessons:

Psalm 39

Ezekiel 17:1-10

Romans 2:12-1

Author:

The Rev. Dr. Arthur Bergren

Pastor, First Lutheran Church, Geneseo

Theme verses:

Psalm 39:7 - And now, O Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in you.

Meditation:

WaitingWaiting is something that’s hard, isn’t it?

Waiting in line at the grocery store. Waiting for the phone call on the job interview. Waiting for the surgeon to give us the news on our loved one. Waiting for our health to return after we’ve been ill.

In verse 7 of Psalm 39 we read, “and now, O LORD, what do I wait for? My hope is in you.”

The only way I know how to wait is to place it in Christ’s hands. For in Jesus, we find the one who waits with us.

But there’s more. Jesus is the one who transforms our Good Fridays into Easters.

If you find yourself waiting in your own personal Good Friday, know that Jesus waits with you to bring you Easter.

Prayer:

God of time and space, bless and keep us in our waiting. Help us to experience your presence now and anticipate your grace which is made known to us in our crucified and risen savior, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
