Stand By Me Stand By Me Stand By Me Stand By Me is a new initiative of the Lutheran Men in Mission. We will walk with young men through the journey of the teenage years into young manhood. We will teach the skills of physical labor - clearing the land, maintaining trails, repairing structures - at the Lutheran Outdoor Ministry Center in Oregon, Illinois. We will provide Theka training for body, mind, and soul. We will teach the skills of camp cooking, camp maintenance, and camp administration. We will provide a retreat experience, a conference experience, and a servant mission beyond the borders of Illinois. We will commit ourselves to discerning together the Lord's will for our lives. Stand By Me is a four-year journey offered to young men at the recommendation of their pastors and with the involvement of their parent(s) or guardian(s). Successful completion of each year of the journey will earn one thousand dollars toward post-high-school education or training. Stand By Me is an initiative of the Lutheran Men in Mission of the Northern Illinois Synod. Want to know more? Ready to recommend a young man for a maturing encounter with self, others, and God?
