Mission
Interpreters
The Mission
Mission Interpreters
share the good news of ELCA ministries.
The Purpose
The purpose of the Mission Interpreter program is to:
-
Bring the good news of the gospel of Jesus
Christ to light and share it with those who make it all possible, the people
of the ELCA in the Northern Illinois Synod.
-
Tell the story of ELCA ministries to members
of the church in an effective and compelling manner.
-
Provide a means of two-way communication.
-
Provide an opportunity to thank the people of
the church.
The Benefits
Congregations benefit
because:
-
“Mission minded” congregations grow deep and
wide.
-
Members see themselves personally connected to
mission and ministry throughout the synod, ELCA and around the world.
-
Members gain a better understanding of the
work we do together beyond the congregation.
-
When members understand their identity as
partners in a wider church, they become strong advocates of shared ministry
and mission support.
The Commitment
Mission Interpreters
are willing to:
-
Present at least one talk per quarter.
-
Communicate regularly with congregations.
-
Serve one to three congregations.
-
Attend one training workshop.
-
Commit to serving at least one year.
