ELCA Presiding Bishop Mark
Hanson has completed his 2006 Christmas message.
The
text is available here. Congregations are encouraged to
reproduce the message in their newsletters. On December 4, the task force for the ELCA Studies on Sexuality will release "Free in Christ to Serve the Neighbor: Lutherans Talk about Human Sexuality," a study that invites participants throughout this church into a discussion of human sexuality. The study is grounded in the New Testament book of Galatians and Martin Luther's essay, "On the Freedom of a Christian." Read a message about it from ELCA Presiding Bishop Mark Hanson.

The use of personal mugs rather than foam cups at meetings, the nature of the food and its preparation for communal meals, the practice of recycling bulletins at services, the choice of cleaning materials for church clean-up days, and plans for building projects all say a lot about Christian attitudes toward God's creation.
