The Northern Illinois Synod and its partner synod, Lower Susquehanna Synod, have teamed together to create a series of Lenten devotionals for you. Please visit www.nisynod.org/lent2007 every day this Lenten season. It is our prayer that these devotions will strengthen your faith on your Lenten journey.

Partner with Farmers and Rural Churches to Help Reduce World Hunger. Get involved in a Foods Resource Bank Project! Is your church’s mission program looking for a new opportunity? Does it need a shot-in-the arm? Does your church need some active ministry, led by lay people? If so, a Foods Resource Bank Growing Project may be for you. A number of rural Lutheran churches in the Northern Illinois Synod want to have a Foods Resource Bank Growing Project. Currently, they don’t have and need the help of non-farming congregations to make this happen. Your church can help the people of starving countries to improve their own food-producing systems. Come learn more! Visit the FRB session at the Congregational Resourcing Event, after lunch on Saturday, March 10 at Kishwaukee Community College. If you can’t make it but are interested in learning more, contact Paul Youngstrum, Trinity Lutheran Church, Ottawa, at 815-434-4028 (Paul.Youngstrum@yahoo.com) or Pastor Philip Peterson, Stavanger Lutheran Church, 815-357-6302.

Diakonia is a program designed to prepare Christians to fulfill their baptismal calling as servants of Christ. This two-year program, taught by pastors, offers solid theological instruction.
