Helping to grow amazing disciples! The 2007-2008 Christian Education planner offers helps for growing disciples, including a Bible study, how to recognize disciple leaders, the story of Albert Schweitzer, and a brand new Family Discipleship Calendar, available online but also in print. The calendar has activities to enhance quality family time and engage disciples of all ages in patterns and practices of the faith. It can be used in any month of the year and in a variety of ways.

You can find an amazing world of possibilities. The ELCA World Hunger Appeal's "Open a World of Possibility" web sites provide tons of fun, information and ideas about Nicaragua, Bangladesh, Haiti, Tanzania and all of Africa. Interactive story books and games are attractive to children and adults alike, as they find out what it means to be part of God's family--to love each and every person on the planet, and how to express that love. Can you find the "Open a World of Possibility Prayer"?

This week's front page features from The Lutheran magazine

Peace in Palestinian classrooms: In Lutheran schools, students learn respect and love for 'the other.' (Photo at left.)

Teach me to pray: 'We are beggars: this is true.' -- Martin Luther

Crossing meanings: From discarded materials, artist portrays Christ's love.

An incredible voice: Retired music teacher makes lessons sing.

Also: Theology as idolatry?

Also: Stuff.

Also: Lutherans are OK.

News from Other Organizations

Many congregations have participated in the Boxtops for Education and Campbell's soup labels collection in support of Nachusa Lutheran Home of Lutheran Social Services of Illinois, and for your support, we thank you! Due to the changes in requirements of the programs and the complications that have ensued, the staff of Nachusa has decided to discontinue participation in those programs. If you would like to continue to collect such items, we encourage you to find another organization that participates; if you're interested in supporting Nachusa Lutheran Home in other ways, we're happy to talk with you about the best ways to do that! Questions? Contact Lisa Hassenstab at 847-390-1447.
