Assistant to the Bishop and Stewardship Specialist, Pr. Jeffrey Clements' 3rd quarter stewardship thank you letter to congregations is online along with many more ideas for congregational stewardship.

Retreat features kinetic spirituality. The day retreat for rostered leaders on December 3 will emphasize spiritual growth through physical movement and touch. Aspects of the retreat will include “Stretch and Pray” exercises, a “Rabbinical Reading” that involves walking and guidance in “Slow Walk” spirituality. Provision will also be made to allow those at the retreat to walk the labyrinth, experience chair massage and hike in the woods. Free time will also allow for more tradition spiritual practices of reading, meditating and napping. This 9 am to 4 pm retreat will be held at the Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Center and is sponsored by the Northern Illinois Synod’s Spiritual Formation Committee. More information and a registration form here.

On Saturday, February 16, 2008 the Greening of the Synod Task Force of the Social Ministry Committee will host a training event for congregational Green Teams offering practical and inspirational guidance and resources for the process of bringing "care of creation" into congregations. The event, under the leadership of David Rhoads (LSTC Director of the Green Congregation Program) will take place from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm at Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Center, Oregon, IL. Anyone interested in "greening" your congregation is encouraged to attend. Congregational teams of 3-5 people would be ideal. There is no charge for the workshop. However, in order to adequately plan for set-up and food, please register your congregation and the approximate number of participants through Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Center at 815-732-2220. Questions may be directed to LOMC or Pastor Don Knowles at 815-246-9642.
