Toward an African American Christian Ethical Perspective on Genetics - Faith & Science Brown Bag. "Race is one key factor that shapes ones perspective or worldview on any particular subject," and "acknowledgement of race is a far more truthful posture than denying that a persons race matters," says the Rev. Richard J. Perry Jr., an associate professor of church and society and urban ministry and the director of the urban ministry program at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. "The diverse religious experience of African American people permits some room for a racial/ethnic perspective," and "there is an African American Christian ethical perspective on genetics."
