NIS LogoWhy is the synod is beginning a campaign to raise funds to elevate the part-time pastor position at Lutheran Campus Ministry to a full-time position?

Bishop Wollersheim explains: "To have full-time campus ministry at NIU is a mission strategy...

... because there are over 30,000 people in the NIU campus community.

... because most of them are dealing with major life issues such as future vocation (We Lutherans know something about vocation).
...because many of our rostered leaders in the church came from campus ministries

... because we as a synod are working on an interdependent and holistic youth ministry program, and campus ministry plays a very important role in that. For example, Pr. Diane Dardon hopes that over 100 confirmation-aged students will come to the LCM @ NIU center this year - the goal being that some day, when they're on a college campus, they will remember the good experience they had and go seek out the ministry on their own campus.

Please be reminded that we begin our campaign for campus ministry with the offering at the Synod Assembly worship service on June 13."
