Rockford's WIFR and WREX each spoke with Bishop Wollersheim via phone from Israel and included reports in their evening news programs (click the stations above to see those reports).
A snippet of a message fromBishop Wollersheim: "All is fine. Notre Dame Center in Jerusalem is clean and hospitable. Today off to Old City, meeting with groups and seeing sights. Everything well planned and scheduled. Full day."
From Presiding Bishop Mark Hanson: "Our purpose and program remains clear: to accompany our Christian brothers and sisters, to raise awareness of the situation here, including the Gaza violence, and to advocate for a just peace. We are monitoring events closely as the situation unfolds....We want to reassure you that we are safe, and that we are being prudent as we continue our work of close accompaniment and forthright advocacy with political leaders. Everyday life continues in the streets of Jerusalem. We have a clear communication plan in place as we travel, and we have responsible contingency plans for our travels as the situation develops."

Coming up on Grace Matters: January 11, 2009, Jacob Needleman - Your Relationship With Money, Matthew 6:19-21. It is a strange phenomenon to equate happiness with having money, especially since having more money (at least beyond a certain point) rarely makes people more happy.Jacob Needleman has a philosopher's mind for thinking about the subject of money. Clearly, the pervasive inability among Americans to take money more seriously, and to talk about money with true honesty, distresses this San Francisco State University professor. Here is a program that gets to the heart of our relationship with money.. Find Grace Matters in your area. |
