Churchwide Resources
Presiding Bishop Mark Hanson has called each of us to 50 days of prayer leading up to the churchwide Assembly which begins Aug. 17. This church is invited to pray for wisdom in discernment for the ELCA and voting members of the 2009 Churchwide Assembly. Prayers, scripture readings and hymns are posted at http://www.ELCA.org/50days .

Augsburg Fortress has just posted free preaching & liturgical helps online that follow the lectionary (sermon & hymn suggestions, liturgies, prayers). They are usually broken down into three or six week segments that may be used for preaching series. There are also complimentary workbooks that can be used for small group ministries or Bible studies. The first series (seven weeks) begins July 12 and is based on seven week lectionary lessons in Ephesians. The overall theme is ways God enables good churches to become extraordinary churches. The preaching and liturgical resources are designed to make life easier for parish pastors. The next series (three weeks) beginning Sept 6  is based on Proverbs. The preaching and liturgy supports are for God's Standard or Gold Standard: Studies in Proverbs. Later materials will be available for  "Questions for Jesus: Studies in Mark" (six week series) begins October 4. There are also DVD introductions for each session that be use as guides for leaders or intro for small group.
