A Message from Bishop Wollersheim
What Will You Do if You Disagree with the Churchwide Assembly's Decisions?
I have been asked this question: "What will you do, as bishop of the synod, if you disagree with the Churchwide Assembly's decisions concerning sexuality?". In other words, Will I protest? Will I ignore the decisions? Will I try to undermine what has been decided?.... Read more...
Next week, Bishop Wollersheim and 18 other voting members from the Northern Illinois Synod will join over 1000 others in Minneapolis for the ELCA Churchwide Assembly. As a subscriber to Walking Together, you will receive daily updates all week from the assembly. There will not be a 'regular' edition of Walking Together next week. Assembly news and updates will also be available on the NIS CWA page. The ELCA website will have live webfeeds from the plenary sessions and information on other ways to connect with the assembly through Twitter, Facebook, and more. Read Assistant to the Bishop, Pr. Jeff Clements' blog for more information about the assembly.
The Northern Illinois Synod Women of the ELCA Convention will be held at St Paul, Dixon, Saturday, September 19 (please note corrected date). Register by August 15. For more information, contact Geraldine French at 815-288-3480
A note from NIS Communication Director, Karin Graddy: Today, I ran a mass update of email addresses for the Walking Together mailing list. If you had requested that your email address be removed from the list, it may have been inadvertantly re-added today. If that is the case for you, or if you have any other problems with your WT subscription, please excuse the inconvenience and let me know, so I can get it fixed right away. karin@nisynod.org . |
