Retired rostered leaders: if you have not yet confirmed your attendance at the luncheons on April 14 at Christ, Belvidere and April 15 at Salem, Moline, please do so asap.
 
All are invited to the 2010 diakonia graduating class of the Indiana-Kentucky, Metropolitan Chicago, and Northern Illinois locations of diakonia at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 930 W Higgins Rd, Schaumburg, IL 60195, Saturday, May 22 at 2pm. Honored guests will be Reverend Doctor Stephen P. Bouman, founder of diakonia, Bishop Wayne N. Miller, Metropolitan Chicago Synod, Bishop James R. Stuck, Indiana-Kentucky Synod, and Bishop Gary M. Wollersheim, Northern Illinois Synod. A reception will follow. Graduates and clergy are invited to vest and process (the color is red).

The Incredible India Youth Team will present highlights of their Visit to Arcot Lutheran Church & Youth Gathering in India on Saturday, April 17, at St. James, Rock Island. All are encouraged to attend the potluck beginning at 5:30 pm and are asked to bring a dish or dessert to share. Call the church office 786-0503 with the number attending. Free-will Offerings will be given for our companions in India and missionaries - the Stubbs in Tanzania.

Jenny Lind ChapelThe Rev. Dr. Herbert W. Chilstrom, who served as presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) from its founding in 1987 until 1995, will be the featured speaker at the Sesquicentennial Founders Day worship service at 4 pm Sunday, April 25, at Augustana Lutheran Church and the Jenny Lind Chapel in Andover, Ill. The presiding minister for the worship service will be the Rev. Dr. Gary Wollersheim, bishop of the Northern Illinois Synod of the ELCA.

The Lutheran Men in Mission Region 5 Gathering will be Friday evening, April 16 through Saturday, April 17 at St. John's Lutheran, 20275 Davidson Rd, Brookfield WI 53045. Registration options allow for Friday and/or Saturday attendance.  Please register by April 2. Education Opportunities
"Sacred Stories: Youth Faith Formation in an Interfaith World," a seminar for youth ministry workers, to be held April 12-13, 2010, at LSTC. Registration is just $45. Participants will learn practical ways to equip young people to be interfaith leaders as well as Christian disciples through service, shared values, and storytelling. Find out more.
    
Congregational Leadership Series - Leading congregations in a changing world will be held at Augustana College, Rock Island, April 26 & 27. Bob Sitze, presenter. For the cost of $125.00 per congregation.  You may bring as many leaders as you would like for 2 sessions: First session, held Monday, 4/26 is "Simplicity Begins at Home." Second session, "Simplicity Goes to Church," will be 4/27.  More information and to register.
