NIS News

Before your graduates head off to college in the fall, please send their names, home town, e-mail address (if possible), and the name of the school they will attend to Pastor Diane Dardón at dianedardon@gmail.com or Lutheran Campus Ministry, 401 Normal Road, DeKalb, IL  60115 815.756.7700. She will not only contact those students attending NIU, but she will also forward the names of your students attending other schools to her colleagues at other colleges and universities. Your attention to this small task may become one of the greatest gifts you can give to your young adults, their families and our church.

By popular request, those participating in the Synod Assembly Wellness activities (Walk, Run and Roll and/or Stretch and Pray), will receive a t-shirt for their efforts! If you have already signed up to participate, please e-mail Deaconess Cheryl Erdmann, deaconesscheryl@bethanylc.com , with your shirt size (M - L - XL). We will do all we can to make sure everyone's size preference is honored, but be aware that we will need to have the shirts ordered by June 1; after that, the requested size may not be available. Shirts and participation packets can be picked up at the Wellness Task Force table in the lobby of Centennial Hall, near the registration area.

Registration deadline for this year's Synod Youth Assembly "The Real World: Stories of Faith" is June 1. Download this flyer to find out more.

The ELCA, through Lutheran Disaster Response, has provided emergency grants of $10,000 each for flooding & tornado relief in Tennessee and Mississippi.  These grants will help to strengthen the work of staff with affiliate agencies there, some of whom were directly impacted themselves and many of whom have already been working tirelessly in the unfolding response.  We will also seek to serve the long-term needs of individuals, families and communities affected by these storms.  Give a gift today to support the ELCA's continued response to this and other disasters in the United States.
