The 2010 Northern Illinois Synod Assembly
In-Kind Offering will benefit Lutheran Social Services of Illinois programs, including the Intouch Adult Day Center in the Quad Cities. LSSI provides services throughout Illinois to children, families, adults, seniors, persons with mental health concerns, substance abuse issues, and developmental disabilities. LSSI has faced funding issues in the past years related to the state budget crisis. If you are interested in working with programming in your area to support the services provided go to www.LSSI.org to locate programs in your area. Needed items include: Copier Paper, Ink Pens, 3 Ring Binders, Baby or Hygiene Wipes, Window Cleaner, Kleenex, Paper Plates, Napkins, Disposable Cups, Baggies/Storage bags, and Art Supplies: Markers, Crayons, Paints/Brushes, Construction Paper. Bring donations to the alcove across from the registration tables in Centennial Hall at the Synod Assembly.

Does your congregation use wireless microphones? The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Washington, D.C., has issued a new rule that may affect use of some wireless microphones by congregations. The rule bans the use of wireless microphones or similar devices that operate in the 700 MHz Band no later than June 12, to avoid interference with fire and police departments now using the band.  You are invited to apply for a 3-day "Lutheran Advocates for Safe Families" training session - Sept. 13-15 or Oct 7-9, locations TBA. Applications are due June 15. The Lutheran Community Foundation is making the training session and materials available at no cost, with some financial assistance for travel and lodging, upon acceptance.
