The Racial Justice team of the Northern IL Synod is offering anti-racism training in Joliet for rostered ministers and lay church people across two Saturdays, Oct 18 and Nov 15, at Faith Lutheran in Joliet.
This two-day training is an important way to widen our awareness and understanding of the subtle and obvious ways that racial bias continues to shape our communities. The training spans two days, which means attendance is required at both to complete the work. Participants will leave with greater knowledge and encouragement to continue the conversation in their local community. Training runs from 9 am - 5 pm each day.
This is a free event hosted by the Northern Illinois Synod Anti-Racism team. Snacks and coffee are provided, but lunch is on your own at various restaurants in the Joliet area.
Registration is now open and closes on October 10th.
Questions can be directed to the Rev. Josh Ebener or by calling the Northern Illinois Synod at (309) 794-4004
This event is being offered in response to the motion passed by the Northern Illinois Synod Council at its September 2020 meeting which set the expectation that all rostered ministers and those serving as licensed pastoral leaders are to attend Anti-Racism training every three years. (ACTION SC 20-09-30).
