Dear Ones,

Over the last three years, we, as a synod and as individuals, have explored the ways that we are called; called to be the body of Christ, called to open God’s story, called to grow as disciples. Being called is part of living into our identity as children of God, and sometimes that call invites us into new ministry opportunities. I write to let you know that Pastor Jen Beamsley, who has faithfully served on the Northern Illinois Synod Staff, has accepted a call to serve the people of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Washington, IL, and will conclude her time with us on December 13, 2025.

During her three years in this role, Pastor Jen has walked alongside countless congregations and leaders during times of transition with grace, wisdom, and deep pastoral care. Her presence and guidance have been a gift to congregations discerning new seasons of ministry and to colleagues across the synod. We give thanks for the ministry and the gifts that Pastor Jen shared with us while called to this role.

In reflecting on her call to the synod, Pastor Jen shared; “It has been a privilege to serve Bishop Fidlar and this synod these past three years. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside congregations and leaders in times of transition and to witness the faithfulness, creativity, and resilience that mark our shared ministry. Having been a part of the Northern Illinois Synod for over three decades, I carry deep gratitude for the relationships and ministries that have shaped me and continue to remind me of the Spirit’s abundance among us.”

I, along with the entire Northern Illinois Synod staff, give thanks for Pastor Jen’s faithful service, her steady leadership, and her deep love for this synod. We send her with our prayers and blessings as she begins this new chapter.

As we enter into an interim time, I am pleased to announce that Pastor Jen Henry will serve as Interim Steward of Transitions. I am deeply grateful for Pastor Jen Henry’s willingness to step into this role, and for the gifts of pastoral wisdom and steady presence she brings to this important ministry. Her leadership will ensure that our congregations continue to receive the guidance and care they need in times of transition. More information about ongoing support and contact information will be shared separately.

In this season of waiting, I am grateful for your support as we send Pastor Jen Beamsley with our prayers and welcome Pastor Jen Henry as she begins her work with our synod.

Walking together,
